Easy Minimal Eye Makeup Looks That Will Turn Heads
1. Ziggy Stardust
Perfect for any party, this Bowie inspired look may not seem like much at first glance, but at a closer look it’s more than just the iconic lightning bolt. To achieve this look start with a drop of eyelid primer to fill in any creases, this will also help your makeup last longer. Go in lightly with a bronze liner on the lower lash water line and then use a small eye shadow brush to smoke it out slightly. Then start on the lightning bolt with a silver cream eye shadow using a fine brush on the outer lines and then filling in. Dust a fine layer of gold eye shadow on to the lid and remember to highlight the inner corner for a sheer glow. Finally, top of the look with some mascara and set with setting spray and that’s it! You’ll be ready to dance the blues in no time.
2. Mellow Yellow
This glowy subtle sunset look can be used as a part of your everyday makeup or stay reserved for a special occasion. Glossy and beautiful, by following these steps, they’ll call you mellow yellow in no time. Start with an eyelid primer to fill any creases and then add your yellow shadow to the crease of your eyelid with a small eye shadow brush and then blend it to relax the line, but make sure it still looks like a line when you’re done. Top with either highlighter or a clear gloss, depending on how dewy you want it to look. Fill in your brows with a gel pomade to even out and achieve that perfectly unnaturally natural brow, then set with setting spray.
3. Pink To Make The Boys Wink
What’s so amazing about this look is that it really proves that there are no rules with makeup and unconventional is still beautiful. To really make this look pop even more, try to avoid using blusher on the rest of the face. As always, to create this look on yourself, start with a primer. Next, apply your blushiest pink shade and start blending it around the eye area, all the way from the top of your cheekbones to above the brow, avoiding your eyelid and building the colour where you wish. Fill in your brows with gel and lift upwards, away from the face to copy this look. Apply a generous amount of mascara, wiggling the wand to avoid your lashes clumping together and set with setting spray.
4. The Upside Down
This look is especially great for hooded eyelids. Minimal and chic, you can use this look all the time and it will be sure to turn heads! Using a black eyeliner pencil, start off your eyeliner as you usually would but instead of flicking the wing up, slant it downwards a little. Then pick any metallic gel pencil that will make your eye colour pop and apply boldly to the lower lash line. Finish with a clear eyebrow gel to keep your brows in place and apply mascara. If you want a more dewy look, apply highlighter to your brow bone and voila!
5. A Hot Mess
If you are a hot mess then this look was made for you! Simple, but effective, this look is sure to turn heads. Using a fine black gel eyeliner, line your eye closely following the upper lash line, when you reach the bottom, draw a sharp line up to the tear duct. When drawing the wing of your eyeliner, draw the wing towards the end of your eyebrow and stop when it reaches roughly the same heights as the crease of your eyelid, then being that line towards the crease, lifting the eyeliner lighter from your skin to give it that faded effect. Smudge at the corner slightly for a more blurred look but keep the edge sharp. Fill in your eyebrows with a pencil and then using a clear gel lift the brow hairs up towards the sky and apply a generous amount of mascara. To jazz the look up, apply a coloured mascara that will make your eyes stand out.
6. Get in Line
Perhaps the fiercest of all the looks, this sharp liner look will require a steady hand. Easier said than done, simply draw the line parallel to your eyebrow, not following your lash line like traditional eyeliner. Try to use as little mascara as possible or ditch it completely to draw full attention to your liner.
7. Dot Dot Dot
Minimal to the max but oh so gorgeous. Use this to spice up your everyday makeup routine. Start with an eyelid primer, and create a subtle brown smokey eye using two or three colours and then place your dots with liquid eyeliner in the center of the eyelid and directly below on the bottom lid. Fill in your eyebrows with a pencil and then with clear gel, pull stray hairs up and away from the eye to get a fly-away look. Top with mascara and set with setting spray.
8. Holographic Fairy
Bring out your inner fairy with this beautiful holographic eye shadow look and don’t be afraid to get messy with it. Bring out the glitter and highlighters, try to stick to soft pinks, purples, blues, greens, and whites to achieve the finished look. Use blues and greens on the inner corner of your eye and pinks and purples on the eyelid, use white wherever you feel needs a little highlight. The more glitter the better and don’t confine yourself to just your eyelid. Leave your brows and lashes natural and rock this head-turning minimalist look like the holographic fairy you are!
